I try really, really hard not to play favorites with my clients. In all honestly, I am so fortunate to work with amazing people, and I am lucky that many of them stick around in my life as friends after their wedding days have passed. 2012 just started, and already Julie and Darren have stolen my heart with their recent wedding. True, they may have been my first married couple of 2012, but everyone else has a lot to live up to. Their wedding was perfect. Simple. Beautiful. Meaningful. Those are my favorite kinds!
You might remember Julie and Darren's engagement session from several months ago. Yeah, that fun and bright one! In that blog post I told a little about Julie and Darren's story, but here's a refresher. They are true childhood sweethearts. They met in 7th grade in a summer school class and quickly became friends. And then they became best friends. They remained best friends for years until they realized there was something more to their relationship. They've truly grown up together, and grown together, which I think is beautiful. I feel the same way about my relationship with my own husband, so I am always so happy to hear of other young couples who have truly grown into their relationships with each other in such a meaningful way.
The ceremony and reception were both held at Grand Tradition Estate at their Arbor Terrace location. It's beautiful. It's a little tropical paradise in North County San Diego. It's like walking through a Hawaiian garden, but really you're still in home-towny Fallbrook, CA. And here's a special thing about this wedding too... Julie and Darren grew up in Fallbrook, very close to Grand Tradition. It was very special for them to be able to marry in their home town. After talking to some of the staff there, I realized that a few of them went to high school together. Cool!
And the day begins...
a good bride always stays hydrated :)
I have seen a lot of ceremonies in my time. For the most part, each ceremony is in some way unique to the couple, and they are all beautiful in their own way. Julie and Darren's ceremony has to be, hands down, one of the very best ceremonies I've ever heard. It was absolutely touching. I am not at all a crier, but I came close during their ceremony. Their officiant is the minister of their church, and he has seen Julie and Darren grow up and develop in their relationship, so he had some very insightful and touching things to say for them. He also shared the letters that Julie and Darren wrote to each other as part of their marriage vows. It was all so beautiful. But it was the perfect mix of heart-string tugging, tear-jearking lovey-dovey and knee-slapping humor. Right when you thought you'd shed a tear, the officiant would say the perfect thing to keep you smiling. It was the most perfect ceremony any couple could ever dream of.
Julie and Darren definitely had what I would consider a fun reception. They have, in my opinion, an above-average taste in music, and the DJ was able to create a playlist for them that was perfect for them and their friends to have a great time all night!
