Good friends, good beer, a beautiful day, and a trip to San Diego... what more could a girl ask for in an engagement session? Not much!
Louanne and I have known each other since... middle school, I think. She has been my hairstylist ever since she graduated cosmetology school. She did my hair and make-up for my wedding (and my best friend's wedding, too!), we've collaborated on so many creative photo shoots, and she has continued to be such a great friend to me over the years. I always value her opinions, whether it's something style related, or just life in general. I remember a couple years ago I was sitting in her salon chair as she was doing something with my hair, and she was telling me about a new guy that she met named Joe. Every few months after that, whenever I'd see Louanne for a hair date, I heard a little more about him. I was so excited when I got a message from her about a year ago letting me know that Joe had proposed! And imagine how happy my heart was when Louanne later asked me to be her wedding photographer. How could I say no?!
We decided to visit San Diego's Little Italy for their engagement session. I looooove Little Italy because it's so bright and colorful. There's so much going on, and everywhere you turn there's a new burst of energy and color ready to be worked with as a backdrop for a photo. Oh, and I went to the elementary school in the area, and Brian and I lived in Little Italy, too, so it will always hold a very special place in my heart!
The weather was perfect that day-- a little cloudy with sun peeking through... my favorite! We had a great time wandering through Little Italy, catching up and laughing. It did start to rain, so we darted into Bottlecraft... OH DARN! Bottlecraft is still one of my favorite places in the whole wide world (seriously, Brian and I and our friends went there multiple times per week), so you could imagine my disappointment when we were forced to hang out and have a beer there while we waited out the rain...
After some photos at Bottlecraft, the rain cleared, and we ran outside for a few more photos. The ground was glistening, and it was the perfect end to a fabulous photo session! Louanne and Joe are seriously the most perfect clients a gal could ask for. I am so excited for their wedding coming up in August!
