Your Wedding Album, Your History

I'm going to tell you a secret-- I was a bad bride. I hired a wedding photography team that I loved for our wedding. I adore our pictures, and to this day, whenever the one we have framed that sits on a shelf catches my eye, I smile. But I was the idiot who opted for a wedding photography package without a wedding album. Yup. I hate to admit it, but I was that bride.

When I was selecting our wedding photography packages I thought to myself, "hey, I am a fairly decent layout designer, I have access to great professional quality printing labs, I can make my own album!" Heather, my photographer, probably shook her head and laughed at me, but I was insistent that I could do it. Could I have made my own wedding album? Sure. Have I made my own wedding album? That would be a big fat no.

As possible as it would have been for me to make my own album, it's been a few years now, and I still don't have a wedding album. Once my business picked up (soon after we got married), I simply didn't have time to make one. It takes me several hours to just pick out which photos should go in the album, not to mention the time to layout each and every page and design them so that they fit a couple's style. It's a lot of time I just haven't had to do this for myself. And I'm ashamed to admit that Heather was right... I'd regret that decision later.

Knowing how I felt when I came to the realization that I made a big bridal blunder, I now know how important wedding albums are, and I urge all of my clients to invest in them.

This photo was taken with my phone, so don't judge me too harshly! I am happy to show you some awesome examples if we meet in person!

Keyword here: investment.

Professional quality wedding albums are expensive. Trust me, I know. And right now, you're probably thinking that you can save a few hundred dollars by printing your own album at snapfish, iphoto, or whatever you use to create photo books. Please listen to me when I tell you this: It's so not the same thing!

Professional albums are higher priced than consumer albums because the quality is so very different. The printing process is different. My albums are all printed on high-end, archival quality paper. If you take the time to compare the two in person (which I can show you at our meeting!), you'll notice that the pages from each kind of book feel nothing alike, and the printing clarity and quality is noticeable to even the untrained eye. Professional albums are bound differently too. These are books that are meant to last, folks!

Wedding albums are also an investment in your future. Yes, when you book a wedding with me I am happy to give you digital copies on a dvd or a flash drive, but what are you going to do with those photos in the future? Sure, you'll print some, they'll hang on the walls of your home for a few years, but the reality is that as much as you love those photos, they'll be slowly replaced by photos of your growing family... vacations, birthdays, and so on. What will you have to show your children about your wedding day? A single photo sitting on the back of a shelf? An old USB drive that they may or may not know what to do with (think about how quickly technology changes these days)? I urge you to consider the prospect of instead handing over a beautiful wedding album, one that is still as beautiful as the day it was given to you, to your children, and your children's children. An true wedding album is a true family heirloom. It's a part of your family's history, and it's a piece of you that can be passed down through generations as a record of your most happy of days.

As part of my standard collections, a gorgeous flush-mount wedding album is a standard feature. If you ask me to build a custom collection for you without an album, I'll do it, but you're going to wish you had one! I offer two types of wedding albums (both flush-mount)-- a standard album and a couture album. I've been offering the standard album for a while now, but I am so very excited to share my couture album offering with you! Couture albums are for the couple with a lot of style and a lot of attitude. Rather than the 5 leather cover options that are included in the standard album, the couture album offers you the opportunity to have an album with prints, faux furs, studs, and anything else you can dream up. Each couture album includes a special design consultation so that we can put together something unique that fits you! They're really exciting, and I hope that you'll love them!

In the past I didn't always include wedding albums in my wedding collections. Simply put, my early clients thought they couldn't afford them. I am now happy to say that I offer albums and books to fit the needs of all of my clients. If you're one of those clients that did not purchase an album for your wedding day-- here's a special offer for you:

Take 10% off any Standard or Couture Wedding Album!

And if you're a bride (or groom) to be and you book a wedding collection by May 10, you'll receive a complimentary upgrade from a standard album to a couture album!

If you have any other questions about the album options that are available to you, don't be afraid to ask! I'm happy to explain your options and go over the design process with you any time!
